Who has a planted tank, or many?
Just wanting to know who has a planted tank, or multiple planted tanks in this community. I have one, and i just love the lush colors that I get from her.

Re: Who has a planted tank, or many?
I am adding a mud flat to my system to help overall water quality . I have Java Moss, Anacharis and Vals Corkscrew started as I need fast growers and simple is best for me. I have just upgraded to T5HO lighting and these fast growers should help offset the explosion of algae that would have occured without them in the system .I am building a breeding ground for shrimp or at least trying anyway...

Yeah and be careful with your lighting hours cuz if your lights are on too long, you sadly will get algae:/
What type of shrimps?

Re: Who has a planted tank, or many?
yeah i should probably put my lights on a timer, and get some moon lights, or at least some blue led's cuz I love having the ability to see into my tank, so i just kinda leave it on too long.

Re: Who has a planted tank, or many?
typically algae needs four hours of the correct intensity light to flower so if you limit light to 3 hours on and 1 hour off the algae problem is not so bad
photosynthesis begins the moment you turn the light on
that being said if you have algae eaters a little algae is a good thing otherwise you have to buy all their food and to my way of thinking the natural stuff that grows in the tank is prolly worlds better for your fish than whatever the fish food lunch lady cooks up

yeah i know that i am always getting attacked by the sweet stench of seaweed when i go to the beach, so i am pretty sure there are plants in saltwater.
