    there are some people out there who use diy live rock although i mayself have not, there are also places that sell it. i am just going to post a name and a link do some research on your own before attempting it and pay close attention to curing time, what materials you need, and remember to add it a little at a time.


    ok with that said do your research on aragocrete, it is basically concrete mixed with some aragonite in with it and molded into the shape of rocks although i am sure you could also make a 3d background out of it also.

    here is a link, on the laft hand side select aragocrete and you will see some pics of diy rock. the diy rock is considered base rock once it is made and is not live until you seed it, anyway here is the link:
