a heads up! Empty a heads up!

    Post by drudown66 Mon Mar 15, 2010 7:26 am

so the other day i bought a snapping shrimp. i thought it was just your average pistol shrimp (planning on getting a shrimp goby for it pretty soon) so since i put it in my tank i kept hearing a weird sound coming from my tank. everytime i heard it id get up and make sure everything was ok, cuz i was thinking my tank is cracking and about to fall apart on me lol. or maybe one of my fish was being special and kept running in to the glass and somehow it was making a sound loud enough to hear. so i got online and looked up some additional info on the new mate i put in my tank. and turns out this shrimp when it open and closes its claws push water thru and it make a popping noise that is very easily heard lol. so i just wanted to give my sw people out there a heads up incase they every get one of these shrimps. i dont want them to think something is wrong with the tank like i did lol stupid

if its a "mantis" shrimp, get it out and get him his own tank.. it will kill everything moving and could possibly shatter the glass

You should put a crab in there and see how long it lasts.
