    Silver Dollar/Metynnis hypsauchen

These are a large fish, that require a group of fish to be healthy, so in turn you need a large tank to keep these fish in. There are a generally peaceful fish that grow up to be 7 inches in length, but have been known to grow up to 11 or 12 inches(this is pretty rare). They are shaped like a silver disk and the males can have a little bit of red on their fins.

When eating they can get quite vicious so it is very interesting to watch, and they will eat most anything that you can give them. These fish are a great flashy tank mate for large tanks, and are compatible with a lot of other tropical fish that they cannot eat.

These fish frighten easily so you should provide hiding places, and avoid putting sharp things in the tank so they do not hurt themselves in trying to escape.

They also do not like it when you water quality fluctuates, so be careful and keep your tanks clean, so that these fish can remain happy and healthy. These fish look best when in good care.

To breed, you just need to keep the fish happy, and they will lay their eggs on a broad flat surface. The parents may eat the eggs.
