what lighting do you use?

what kind of lighting do you all use? i use T5HO on my 90 and ended up putting a 3 x 175 watt metal halide (MH) on my 110.

i use a 4 bulb ho t-5 on my 55. so far so good. not sure what imma do when i do a biiger tank like a 120 or something around there, but ill let yall know when i find out

i went with the mh's for 2 reasons

1. i could actually find a fixture in 60" plus in lenght used

and

2. i could actually swing a deal to get it

well i now join the MH club lol it aint up and running yet but i have 2 250watt mh and 2 48" vho actinics. dam i cannot wait to get this take up and ruuning!!! finally sps here i come lol

I am stuck using 4 coralife 96watt 50/50 on my 120. 2 48" vho on my 80 and 2 coralife 96 watt 6700, color max on my 92 corner tank.

igs if you want to go mh check with neptunes cove in his used stuff, he has a ton of mh fixtures in his used stuff but they would need new bulbs, and welcome aboard man glad to have you here.

hey with 720 watts on a 75 gal tank its going to put off hell heat, it has 3 3 inch (i think) fans in now if i added a few more would that help out at all with over heating the tank??? my whole goal with this is trying to avoid getting a chiller lol. not that it get hot up here in WA but i dont how much heat the light would put out, and when we turned em on you can feel a lil heat as they start to kick on, figure its enough to raise the heat of the tank

dru keep the fixture at least 12" above the water surface and i would say 2 fans on each end would work. have teh fans on one end pull cool air in, and teh 2 fans on the other end blow hot air out.

i use 2x Lumatek digital 400W selectable ballasts with lumenarcIII reflectors and reeflux 20k bulbs on a 27" deep tank..... 1x 250W icecap ballast with geismenn reflector and a reeflux 12k on a 21" deep tank.... 2x150W Coralvue ballasts and reflectors with reeflux 12k bulbs on a 8" deep tank... also doing a LED experement with Ecoxitic Panoramas and stunner strips... and a little clip on light for the mangroves and macro....

needless to say i hate me electric bill

all i use are the little 4" walmart fans... there like $7 and are silent... only problem with fans is your going to have alot more evap..

ya i kinda figured about the evap factor lol how much you topping off??? imma thinking about getting a garbage can to keep water in just for topping off. hey make sure you get some pics up to would love to see your set up

get yourself a 55g food grade barrel if you have the room... super cheap to find and 55g is alot of water lol.... i top off about 5g a day

dam not looking foward to that lol. where did u get your barrel from and how much??? jw cause that sounds like a great ideal. on my 55 im just running 4 ho t5's so i dont deal with topping off to much, a lil more than normal since i dont have the tops on but nothing close to yours lol

i got mine from some dude on a farm... he had a bunch and gave em to me... they had concentrated rasin juice in them but after a good vinager soak and a rinse out, it was good to go

Dru those are 4" fans on that canopy of yours.
